Pop, rock and jazz releases include the latest by local band The Angels on Take it to the Streets.  The album will be featured when they perform at The Palm at Crown next March. Billy Thorpe performs his greatest hits recorded live, solo and acoustically at The Basement in Sydney.   Jazz singer, Gregg Arthur, explores the Nat “King” Cole songbook on Unforgettable.

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis present Lawless : original motion picture soundtrack.

Stage and screen releases include cast recordings of two recent Broadway revivals – Follies and Porgy and BessFollies was first produced on Broadway in 1971.  Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, who recently visited Melbourne for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Her Majesty’s.   The Production Company presented the show in Melbourne in 2008.   The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess was first produced on Broadway in 1935, and featured an entire cast of classically trained African-American singers.  Summertime and It ain’t necessarily so are two popular songs from the score.  Lawless, co-produced by Nick Cave, is the soundtrack for the recent western movie release.

The Perfect Gardener : beautiful music for you and your garden.

Classical releases include Ravi Shankar : the living room sessions, Pt. 1, featuring noted Indian composer and musician, Ravi Shankar playing the sitar, recorded entirely in the living room at his Californian home.  Choral Works by Imogen Holst features compositions by the daughter of Gustav Holst (The Planets), performed by the great Choir of of Clare College, Cambridge, who recently toured Australia with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.   The Perfect Gardener is a compilation of popular sounds to accompany your gardening activites.

The Teddy Bears Picnic : vintage children’s songs.

Finally for the kids there is Celebration, the latest release by The Wiggles, who are currently touring Australia.  Also a collection of vintage children’s songs with The Teddy Bears PicnicOn the Good Ship Lollipop, Animal Crackers in my Soup, The Teddy Bears Picnic are just some of the tunes performed by the Hooley Dooleys, the Fairies, and Bananas in Pyjamas.
